24th of January 2023: CIVIL AVIATION ICAO USAP-CMA 4-DAY TRAINING
The Civil Aviation Division (9 staff) undertook a 4-day training that focused on the International Civil Aviation Organization Universal Security Audit Programme, Continuous Monitoring Approach {ICAO USAP-CMA). The objective of the training was to ensure that member States who are to undergo ICAO USAP-CMAaudit in 2023 are familiar with the system and tools that ICAO will use in the audit as well as what they will look for during an on-site audit.
The 4-day training was delivered virtually and facilitated by 2 ICAO members, with over 25 participants from around the Pacific Island States. This training provided opportunities for Tonga and other state members to clarify confusion surrounding the requirements that ICAO have concerning the USAP-CMA audit.
At the end of the training, the Tonga CAD USAP-CMAhas a new found understanding of what the ICAO USAP-CMA audit will cover.
