4th of August, 2022: HONORABLE MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE OFFICIALLY MET THE SECRETARY GENERAL FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANISATION
Hon. Minister for Infrastructure, Hon. Sevenitini Toumoua and the Acting Director for Civil Aviation at the zoom meeting with Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
The Honorable Minister for Infrastructure Hon. Sevenitini Toumoua, met the Secretary General for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, through a zoom meeting yesterday 3rd of August.
The Minister emphasized on the importance of this meeting not only to meet Mr. Salazar but also it helps strengthen the ties between ICAO and the Government of Tonga in regards to our safety in Aviation. The Honorable Minister was joined by the Acting Director for Aviation, Mrs. ‘Emeline Fifita in this zoom meeting.
The International Civil Aviation Organization is the leading body who controls and regulates Civil Aviation worldwide. Civil Aviation Rules and regulations put together by ICAO is a must to be followed as they can shut down any airport who fails to abide by them or when safety of the airport is not sure.
In September this year, the ICAO will conduct a conference in Canada to review regulations and protocols to ensure the safety of aviation around the world.
